Adopt a Dog from K9 Coop
At K9 Coop, adoption is about more than finding a home—it’s about making the right match for both the dog and the family. Our dogs come from shelters and other urgent situations and are placed into foster homes where they can decompress, learn, and show their true personalities. This allows us to better understand each dog’s needs and help place them into a home where they can truly thrive.

Our Adoption Philosophy

We believe successful adoptions are built on honesty, preparation, and support. Every dog deserves a safe, loving, and permanent home, and every adopter deserves the information and guidance needed to make a confident, lifelong commitment.

Our goal is not speed — it’s the right fit.
Adoption Fees
Adoption fees help offset the cost of veterinary care, supplies, and ongoing rescue efforts. Fees vary based on the dog and are discussed during the adoption process. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, all fees directly support our mission.
What to Expect from K9 Coop
All dogs adopted through K9 Coop:
-
Are spayed or neutered (age and medically appropriate)
-
Are up to date on vaccinations
-
Are microchipped
-
Receive necessary veterinary care while in rescue
-
Have been living in a foster home whenever possible
Because our dogs live in real homes, we’re able to share insight into their behavior, personality, energy level, and needs—beyond what’s visible in a shelter environment.
Ongoing Support
Adoption doesn’t end when you take your dog home. K9 Coop remains a resource for our adopters and is happy to provide guidance, referrals, and support as your dog settles into their new life.
The Adoption Process
01
Submit an Adoption Application
Start by completing our adoption application. This helps us learn more about your lifestyle, experience, and what you’re looking for in a companion.

Submitting an application does not commit you to adopting—it simply begins the conversation.
02
Application Review
Our team carefully reviews each application to ensure it aligns with the needs of the dog you’re interested in. We may reach out with follow-up questions or to discuss potential matches.
03
Meet & Greet
If approved, we’ll arrange a meet-and-greet with the dog—often in their foster home or a neutral setting. This gives you the opportunity to interact, ask questions, and see if it feels like the right fit.
04
Adoption Approval & Home Preparation
Once a match is confirmed, we’ll finalize the adoption details and help you prepare for your dog’s transition home. Our team is here to support you every step of the way.
05
Adoption Date
Adoption day is the beginning of a lifelong bond. We’ll provide guidance on decompression, routines, and what to expect during the adjustment period.
